People with TV were weak in the faith in the 60s in NZ. If D&G ever made it here, we were not the type of Dub that would ever watch that sort of thing. We were so Superdub that the Superdubs were threatened by our presence.

Born-ins... Did your parents let you watch the 1960's children's animated series "Davey and Goliath"?
by Calebs Airplane inmy parents used to let us watch this series growing up.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wei5oek53h8&list=plsg87pnp-rju50meptced92tlyyym7wir.
... until one day they noticed it was actually a production from the evangelical lutheran church of america... .
then, it became prohibited.... the only explanation they provided us thereafter was that this cartoon was made by satan and his demons.. .

I have a question for born agains and jws. When Jesus ask Jehovah to forgive the men who killed him are they in heaven?
by booker-t inthis question gets people defensive because they have to question they own belief system.
born agains and jws always claim to follow the bible 100% but when this question comes up i always get silence from both groups.
because in the bible jesus says whatever he ask the father i will be granted.

Jesus didn't ask Jehovah to forgive them.
Quoting you .... "Father forgive them"
Any evangelical worth his salt should know that "God the Father" does not = Jehovah, but they have not been taught how to explain this concept to someone convinced of JW theology.
The 'Trinity' that JWs have been taught, is not taught by Trinitarians, or their favourite whipping boy the Catholic Church, and is not The Trinity at all, it is Modalism. The WT scammed you on this one .... don't let them get away with it.
BTW, I believe man created gods .... all of them

Although JWs have died refusing transplants in the past, it is no longer an issue.

The JW life is good!
by Julia Orwell infor some people.
i think of the old man who has no family and lives in a nursing home, and the only time he gets out is when he's picked up for the meetings.
he lives solely for that.. or people who love routine and busy-ness, people who need to be led.. george orwell wrote that the party is best able to impose its worldview on those least likely to understand what it is that's being asked of them: orthodoxy is unconsciousness.. i believe a lot of jws swallow the party line and it passes through them unharmed, like a seed pooped out by a bird.

I recently had a JW say that they had a problem with the killer god killing good people and children, then switch to denying they taught that.
I then challenged them to show me literature to back up their new position. They have made no effort to do that.

Question #1 There is nothing on the list that wasn't available elsewhere.
Question #2 The list is too long to bother starting.
OCD is a good description of the behaviour of many of my JW family members. They live in a world of evil people that bust their asses looking after them in their old age and disease in return for having their babies killed at Armageddon because they didn't join their church.
They are happy until they have to defend their nasty little killer god to someone who knows what they really teach inside the KH walls.

My experience today
by leaving_quietly indiscussion with wife today led to her questioning whether i believe or not.
i told her that i just can't roll over and accept everything new thing they say just like that.
we were, of course, talking about the "new light".

You talk too much and she doesn't want to hear it. Ask questions instead. If she gives an answer that you know is contradicted in the Bible, the WT, or the secular source she is quoting make her feel she should read you the relevent document as soon as she finds it. Now would be good, you go make the coffee while she gets it.

Constructive feedback for AAWA leadership (IMHO)
by besty in1 - reconsider your existence - there might be a reason why the most effective resources to date have been solo efforts.
2 - recognize that even well-intentioned organizations will firstly seek self-preservation.
3 - be aware that egos and emotional stupidity have torn apart much grander edifices than aawa.

I haven't seen any criticism of any good works, Marvin. We all appreciate the hard work that has been done and use it in our own ways.

Try not to do her reasoning for her.
Ask a question then shut up and make her do all the talking. Keep asking yourself if she is really answering the question you asked, or is she tricking you into a change of subject?
Give her a guilt trip for any tricks she tries. Feign being offended.
Remember that you don't need to justify leaving as you haven't actually left. You want her to justify remaining with a church with this infanticidal god.
Show her pictures of kids getting killed in wt pubs, especially pubs she raised you with and that she would have studied.
You need her to tell you she has problems with her beliefs and she won't do that if you are doing all the talking, so practice a bit of shut up.

Public Apology Nathan Natas
by Simon ini'd like to offer a public apology to nathan natas for making a wrong decision when i deleted him.. i allowed a combination of previous issues we'd had and input from other forum members to bias my decision which lead me to what i now, in hindsight, believe to have been a mistake.. whether you want to come back and post here or not i wanted to at least say sorry and will reactivate your account..
